  United Hands to Nepal (UHN), Nepal Drug and Poisons Information Center (NDPIC)
 
NDPIC was established in June, 1997 and supported by United Hands to Nepal. NDPIC provides valuable life-saving information on poisons, drug interactions, insect or snakebite, and almost all chemical exposures to health care professionals and the general public. The main objectives of the center are as follows:
To act as a drug and toxicological information resource center
To act as a training center for toxicological and medical information
To carry out research in the field of toxicology
To provide community outreach information
To publish the quarterly poison information “Access” newsletter
To publish research and experience


Facilities available at NDPIC include a dedicated phone line for poison and drug information, text books, journals, internet, fax, electronic databases- MICROMEDEX, USPDI, IPCS INCHEM, INTOX, eDTB, eBNF and NDPIC treatment protocols. It has a link with the Central Ohio Poisons Center (24hours/7days) and internet links with many poison centers throughout the world. The service is provided by pharmacists. NDPIC has support of many local professionals comprising general physicians, pediatricians, pharmacists, pharmaceutical chemists, clinical pharmacologists, forensic medicine experts, psychiatrists, psychologists, herbalist, herpetologist, entomologist and veterinary physician.
