  BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (Dharan, Nepal)
 
BP Koirala Institute of Health Science (BPKIHS) established by an act of Parliament on January 18, 1993, (subsequently amended on October 28, 1998) is an autonomous health Sciences University with a mandate to work towards developing socially responsible and competent health work force. Striving continuously for meeting the health needs of the eastern region of Nepal in primary, secondary and tertiary levels is it's primary responsibility. It carries out need based health system research with an aim to use such strategies for overall community development of this region.
 
Academic of the Institute
Teaching programme: Presently the institute is running MBBS, BDS, B.Sc. Nursing, Certificate in Nursing, Operation Theater & Allied Sciences, MD/MS in Clinical & Basic Sciences & M.Sc. in Basic Science subjects.
 
The Curriculum
The curriculum of BPKIHS is need based, integrated, community oriented partially problem based, and has incorporated student centered education with early patient contact.
 
Services
BPKIHS hospital is 646 bedded hospital with full-fledged emergency, ICU, CCU, NICU, PICU, MICU & Tropical ward. The service is provided by around 350 doctors, 300 Nursing staffs & paramedical. BPKIHS is also providing services to 5 district hospitals by providing faculties under internship training programme in eastern Nepal. Daily turnover of patient is more than 1000 from different parts of Nepal and border area of India.
 
Drug Information Centre (DIC)
Drug information centre of BPKIHS is providing services since 1997. Now the DIC of BPKIHS is upgraded with equipments and books provided by US Pharmacopoeia(USP), USA. It is situated in OPD area near hospital pharmacy.
